ABOUT

HISTORY IN THE MAKING

The Earl of Chesterfield is one of Nottinghamshire’s finest rural pubs, nestled in the beautiful village of Shelford between Radcliffe-on-Trent and Gunthorpe close to the River Trent and Trent Valley Way, where we welcome local customers & visitors from farther afield, seeking a leisurely drink or delicious meal in a picturesque part of the countryside.

This beautiful venue is steeped in history, and is now home to the Maxwell Family, who know a thing or two about the hospitality industry, having been involved in the' trade' for over 30 years .

You can expect a warm welcome, freshly prepared food and a wonderful drinks menu.
You can wine & dine in the pub, lovely beer garden or the Chapel Restaurant, and we offer a wide selection of dishes throughout the week, along with our legendary Sunday lunch.
Small humans and dogs are very welcome, although dogs are not permitted in the Chapel Restaurant.

We would be delighted to host your private events in the Chapel Room or pub.

The local and pub history is fascinating and can be explored via the Shelford history site.

Popular with walkers, ramblers and riders of all descriptions, why not join us for the day, and enjoy the trail, whilst basing yourselves at the wonderful Earl of Chesterfield.
